Types

Only a holotype was assigned: HUIC 1 ♀ 64mm SL.

Distribution

Known only from the type locality: Dalaman Stream, Burdur Province, Turkey. 37°08'55.66"N, 29°39'42.57"E. This was the first described subterraneran fish in Europe but it is now joined by Barbatula undescribed species from Germany.

Habitat

No details of the habitat are provided in the only publication.

Systematics

May be evolved from Cobitis battalgii which shares the catchment area with C. damlae.
