Types

Holotype: KIZ 874200. Paratypes: KIZ 874197, 874199, 874500, 874501. Data from Eschmeyer (1998).

Distribution

Known only from the type locality: Jiuxiang Limestone Cave, Jiuxiang, Yiliang County, Yunnan, China (25o24’N, 103o27’E). Sinocyclocheilus anophthalmus is also found in this cave.

Systematics

Most closely related to Triplophysa nanpanjiangensis (Yang and Chen 1993). A good comparison of subterranean Triplophysa species is provided by Wu et al. (2018).

This species is known from one site only and is therefore VU D2.
