Types

Holotype: KIZ 20060001 female 33.0mm SL. Paratype: KIZ 20060002 male 26.1mm SL.

Distribution

Known only from the type locality: Underground water source 110m depth near the county town, Wuming County, Zhang Sheng, Guangxi Province, China. ca. 23°10'N, 108°17'E.

Habitat

No details available. The water source appears to be a pumped well judging from the photograph (Figure 117) in Lan et al. (2013).

Systematics

One of three species, all hypogean, in the hypogean-restrited genus Protocobitis, the others being Protocobitis typhlops and Protocobitis anteroventris.
