Distribution
Known only rom the Type Locality: The outlet of a subterranean tributary of the River Wujiang in the River Yangtze drainage in Wudang District, Guiyang City, Guizhou Province, China ((26°39′30′′ N, 106°46′0′′ E; 1,105 m elevation).
Habitat
The water temperature was 15.0 °C during the survey period in August 2019. The species co-occurred with some endemic fishes of Guizhou Province, including Sinocyclocheilus multipunctatus and Linichthys laticeps in its type locality.
Systematics
A member of the hypogean group of Triplophysa species and sister to a group containing T. rosa and T. qingzhenensis (Liu et al. 2022).
