The taxon was revealed by molecular methods (Garcia-Machado et al. 2011), has not been formally described, and there are no types.
Distribution
Known only from a single localty: Unnamed cave at Coco Key, Ciego de Avila Province, Cuba. This is an island off the northern Cuban coast and this is the first record of a Cuban Lucifuga not on the mainland.
Systematics
