This species does not appear to have been described. It is mentioned in Lundberg and Rapp Py Daniel (1994) as follows:
"Baskin reported an un-described eyeless and pigmentless Hoplomyzon (Aspredinidae) collected in bottom trawls at about 15m in the lower Orinoco mainstem near Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela (paper, without published abstract, read at 1978 meeting of the American Society of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists, Orono, Maine). Collected near the blind aspredinid were a few specimens of the tiny trichomycterid species Pygidianops eigenmanni and Typhlobelus ternetzi"
