Abstract:
Caves can be characterized as a dynamic environment under permanent change, mainly by the action of water which serves as training, shaping and placement of many features. In that dark room without food many species are being generated with characteristics very different from the ones existing outside that habitat. Because of that, new species of animals have been emerging and being discovered. For this study, it was used troglobius (Trichomycterus itacarambiensis and Stygichthys typhlops) and troglophylus (Ituglanis spn) fishes. In order to search on the aquatic environment and the changes experienced by these species it was carried out analysis of the lipid profile, by using gas chromatography with a flame-ionization detector. 30 fatty acids were identified with more evidence for palmitic acid (C16:0), 22,28%; stearic acid (C18:0), 8,52%; oleic acid (C18:1n9c), 29,07%; linoleic acid (C18:2n6c), 5,64%; linolenic acid(C18:3n3), 2,23%; tricosanoic acid (C23:0), 2,27% and cis-4,7,10,13,16,19–docosaexaenoic acid (DHA - C22:6n3), 1,40%. Individual analysis demonstrated that differences between species, habitat and food could be related with the fatty acid profile observed. Key-words: cave, troglobius, troglophylus, lipids.
