Holotype: ZMC 860215, 93mm SL. Paratypes: ZMC 860214, 104mm SL; ZMC 860219 66mm SL. The second paratype (860219) is deposited at the Institute of Hydrobiology, Academia Sinica, Wuhan, China.
Distribution
Known only from the type locality: An unnamed cave in Panxian County, Guizhou Province, China (25o26’N, 104o45’E).
Habitat
No details of the habitat are provided with the original description.
Systematics
A member of the subfamily Barbinae. Wang and Chen (1998) revised the diagnosis of the genus Sinocyclocheilus.
Biological Notes
Panotrechus pilosus Tian and Zhou 2023 (Coleptera: Carabidae: Trechini, Platynini) is known from Wojiao Dong Cave, Baotian Zhen, PanzhouShi, Luipanshui Shi, western Guizhou, China (25.40° N / 104.74°E, 1593 m asl (Tian et al 2023). It is reported to share the cave with Sinocyclocheilus angularis and may forn part of the food supply for the fish. Whether this is the same cave as the type, and only known locality, for S. angularis is not currently known.
