Abstract:
The present work titled Speleological Guide of
Napo province, has been a joint effort
promoted from the Academy, and directed towards the
general public that likes and enjoys adventures
underground. In addition, this guide was intended
as an input for communities and owners
of natural cavities in the province.
A cavern, cave, grotto or technically known as a natural cavity, not only has a
interpretation of the geological origin of a territory, but rather that it expands its importance to
cultural aspects of the peoples and nationalities settled there, as well as a strong tendency to
incorporate processes of local economic development through tourism, and allows research
on future interventions, all as part of a process of social construction of a new
management model in territory called GEOPARQUE.
From the Prefecture of Napo, we feel honored to be part of a great work team,
which has as an initial result, to present this I Napo Speological Guide, as a contribution to spread
potentialities, as well as information on accessibility to each of the natural cavities.
I invite you to share with your family this wonderful opportunity to learn more about the biodiversity of
our province.
After two years of field work in this
guide presents the results obtained by a
important working group.
It is necessary to highlight the institutional support of the
Amazon Regional University Ikiam, of the Government
Provincial Decentralized Autonomous
Napo and the Ecuadorian Speleological Scientific Society
(ECUCAVE).
