Abstract:
Southwest China has a rich cave fish fauna (Zhao, Gozlan, & Zhang, 2011). Triplophysa rosa (Teleostei, Cypriniformes, Nemacheilidae), is a typical member only found there, and has a reduction or total loss of eyes and pigment (Chen & Yang, 2005). A comprehensive understanding of its adaptation to the subterranean environment is of great interest for its conservation. Neither the underlying genetics of their adaptation on their environment nor the genetic structure of the population has thus far been addressed. Only a very few genetic studies have been reported (e.g. mitogenome sequencing (Wang et al., 2012); microsatellite isolation (Zhao, Zhao, & Peng, 2014); and karyotypic analysis (Niu, Zhao, Zhao, Ludwig, & Peng, 2016). However, the limited number of microsatellites recently found (Zhao et al., 2014) is insufficient for sub‐population destination or pedigree analysis, as only 11 polymorphic microsatellites have thus far been isolated. Unfortunately, the species has a very low genetic variation. Therefore, we describe herein an additional nine polymorphic microsatellites found by transcriptome sequencing.
