Types

Only a holotypes was assigned: KIZ 200211001, female, 56.0mm SL.

Distribution

Type locality: a small pool 581m underground in Dongba Cave, (895 m asl), Wu Jiang drainage, Tianxing Town, Jiangkou Town, Wulong County, Chongqing City, China (29o13'40.44" N; 107o55'16.46" E). Known also from A subterranean pool in Furong Cave, Chongqing City, Wulong County, China  (29°24'1.09"N, 107°54'11.60"E) (Chen et al. 2021).

Habitat

The specimen was collected from a small population of several individuals in a pool 581m underground (314m asl). The pool is c. 10m long and 5m deep. Air temperature 16–17oC, water temperature c.13oC. About 12 individuals were seen in another adjacent pool.

Systematics

Sgouros et al. (2019) found that T.rosa is sister species to T. xiangxiensis. A good comparison of subterranean Triplophysa species is provided by Wu et al. (2018).
