Types

This taxon has not been described and there are no types. The taxon was identified as separate from Typhlichthys subterraneus sensu lato by Niemiller et al. (2013).

Distribution

Recorded from 6 caves in Kentucky (3 confirmed by molecular data) (Niemiller et al. 2013).

Systematics

The population of lineage M in Sloans Valley Cave, Pulaski County, Kentucky was recognised as different from nominal Typhlichthys subterraneus by Cooper and Beiter (1972), Swofford, Branson, and Sievert (1980) and Burr and Warren (1986:221).
